Monique holds a BA in English Literature and Linguistics from Queen Mary University and an MA in Advertising from Bucks New University. Her BA dissertation looked at the disappearance of Cockney dialect and the rise of ‘London Vernacular English’.
Prior to joining Nesta, Monique worked as a Project Coordinator at various public and private sector organisations such as Ofcom, National Schools Partnership and Ark. She also taught in a primary school for a year and worked with local council to implement a pilot iPad scheme within her school.
She is passionate about social issues affecting young people within London. She was part of the youth panel for StopWatch where she built relationships with community groups and led workshops with police and young people. She has also worked as a Community Engagement Volunteer at Food For Life Project at Shoreditch Trust where she organised healthy eating cooking activities with parents and children who lived in areas within Hackney affected by high obesity rates.
